Taming the tent town called Ironhead Station and protecting the interests of the MK&T railway has left Morgan Clyde with a considerable list of enemies (as detailed in Smoke Wagon, 2017). So Clyde unpins the railway-police badge, bids farewell to Ironhead Station and his few friends, and rides out to face the inevitable. Knowing his enemies are unrelenting in their pursuit, Clyde figures he would rather be the hunter than the hunted. Cogburn takes the reader on an adventurous trip, following Clyde through pioneer Indian Territory. Be prepared to meet revenge seekers, gunslingers, Pinkerton detectives, saloon crowds, Native Americans, prostitutes, crooked and cowardly railway magnates, and more. The extensive historical and geographical detail in Call Me Lonesome adds considerably to the word count and the reading time without becoming tiresome or unwieldy. While the novel is an entertaining read on its own merit, the reader might enjoy it a bit more as a follow-up to Clyde's previous adventures.--Quist, Reg Copyright 2018 Booklist
